Public holiday 18th May – Victoria Day. We took a delightful walk in Whitemud Ravine Nature Reserve, Edmonton. Paths through the reserve can be accessed from several surrounding neighbourhoods. In fact the criss-crossing paths can get rather confusing so remember your route to avoid getting lost.
A family of Canadian Geese swam (rather too quickly) by. The goslings walked when they hit rocks instead of keeping in the water. So cute!
Getting used to my Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.
Quick sketches of my neighbourhood looking south across 23 Avenue, Edmonton. In this area (as in a lot of Edmonton) buildings are often box-like. Perhaps the many flat roofs, lack of ornamentation and subdued colours are a reflection of the climate. Edmonton is a winter city, the northern most big city in North America.
Nursing a painful thumb (old RSI injury plus underlying arthritis) so allowing myself only very quick sketches. Surprisingly I find myself doing more sketches and I rather like this new style. Pen and my new Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.
