The Old Arts Building, University of Alberta, Edmonton

The Old Arts Building, University of Alberta, Edmonton is a beautiful example of Romanesque Revival architecture. The building will be 100 years old in 2015. (Sketched this during the August Sketchmeet of Urban Sketchers Edmonton).

Moleskine Watercolour. Completed on site.

I *lOVE* London

My first trip to the UK and I *LOVE* London. After growing up English educated in a British Colony, London seemed so familiar, like I'd lived there in a previous life…or is that from too much Masterpiece Theatre on PBS television?

Here are a few sketches done during our short visit.

Packed and ready to go.

Sketched this courtyard from the comfort of inside the wine bar after having to escape some sudden noise from street drilling.

A view of the Renaissance Hotel, done over a couple of sessions from the hotel next door. Unfortunately I ran out of time to add the parts with the spires behind.

My best ones are the ones I did very quickly. Colour was added at home.

 Done on Moleskine Watercolour.

Out and About

The last few months have been busy ones, selling our house and getting back into the swing of things after being away for 8 months. Below are a few sketches done while out and about.

Bear Mountain Coffee

This is a coffee place in Southgate Mall, Edmonton that I've frequented for some years. I get together regularly with a few friends after free Taichi in the mall and our friendships have grown over the years.  Most of the clientele at Bear Mountain are older people who go for coffee after mall walking (where else can one get a walk in when it's below minus 15 degrees centigrade for seven months of the year).

Unfortunately the baking  doesn't really excite me.
